2. What is your least favourite part about not having a relaxer?
Coming my hair dry lo0lz
3. Best and worst reaction to your hair?
Best - I did my first twist out and it looked fab! I took pictures all day
Worst - I cried when I first did my big chop. Took me weeks to wear my hair out.
4. What do you see in the future for you hair?
I want length, but more than anything I want that bounce and shine I had with my relaxer but only better bigger and better lo0lz!
5. Who inspires your style?
No one in particular, if I see something I like I make a mental note.
6. Before you stopped relaxing what did you think about “natural” hair?
I thought it was only for people who were mixed.I didn’t know black men and women had such beautiful hair.
7. Opinions on relaxers/wigs/weaves?
I’ve never had a problem with relaxers and I still don’t. I had a decent length when I was relaxed and my hair was super thick. I think healthy hair is more than possible with relaxers. I don’t like wigs/weaves because I know all to well how damaging it is when you take that wig/weave off and don’t recognize yourself. To wear wigs/weaves I really think you have to be comfortable with your hair because if you’re trying to hide it under fake hair it’s traumatizing when you take it off.
8. Can we find you on twitter!?
No.
9. Summer hair styles?
patra Patra PATRA braids! Can’t wait! My hair is at it’s longest 4 inches and shorts about an 1.5 inches so I’m def ready to braid it up and forget about it!
10. Tips/advice?
Listen to your hair! Just because 99.9% of the natural community may be using a certain product it doesn’t mean it’s for you! Also, don’t think you need to purchase expensive products, inexpensive products can provide the same quality for a fraction of the price!
11. How long have you been natural?
7 or 8 months. I transitioned for the first few and then I did the big chop :)
12. Why did you decide to stop getting a relaxer?
I’m broke lo0lz, nosa. Honestly, I was learning about the natural community and I was SUPER fascinated by all the black men and women I saw with gorgeous curls && kinks so I started to get curious with my texture.
13. Did you big chop or transition?
Transitioned for a little but eventually BC’ed. Love it!
14. What was your first reaction to your natural hair?
I cried and I thought my texture was ugly. Then I received alot of support from women at my school, both relaxed and natural.
15. What’s the one product you can’t go without?
I don’t have one but I will say I LOVE Argan && Jojoba Oil!
16. How did natural hair change your style?
From a hair standpoint it’s made me more adventurous. My clothing wasn’t effected.
17. Has going natural made you more confident or less confident?
I’d say neither. I have my demons that natural hair has lessened some and enhanced others. My confidence issues won’t be solved with a twa unfortunately.
18. What do you love most about your natural hair?
How lightweight it feels. And I just LOVE to touch it!
19.Do you have a hair length goal? If so, what is it?
Yes & no, I do wish for my hair for my hair to flourish however I’m not going to be disappointed if it doesn’t reach my waist or something. For me it’s about health, not length.
20. Ever tried something with your natural hair that was a complete fail?
Wash n Go w/ gel. My hair wasn’t defined and had a icky feel to it. HAD to wash that out!
21. Do you have any regrets?
No. I love it!
